Do I need to pay for a full hour if my problem is quick to fix?

For quick fixes that take less than 30 minutes, we charge a reduced rate of £20. However, we’ll always use any remaining time to show you how to prevent similar issues in future or answer any other tech questions you have. Many clients find this additional guidance invaluable.

More often than not, you might not be aware of features that could make your digital life easier. During our sessions, we frequently discover little frustrations that we can quickly solve – perhaps it’s making text easier to read, setting up shortcuts you didn’t know existed, or showing you faster ways to do everyday tasks. These “quality of life” improvements often turn out to be the most valuable part of our sessions, even if they weren’t what brought you to us initially.

What if the session runs over the scheduled time?

Every session starts with a friendly chat over tea or coffee. This isn’t just social niceties – it’s an important part of how we work. Taking 5-10 minutes to connect and understand how you’re feeling that day helps us adjust our teaching style and pace to match your energy levels. It’s amazing how much better people learn when they feel relaxed and understood.

Because we invest this time in getting to know you and your needs, we’re equally flexible when it comes to session length. If we’re in the middle of helping you master a particular skill or solving an important problem, we won’t suddenly stop because the clock hits the hour mark. That would be counterproductive and frustrating for everyone.

While we do technically charge in 20-minute increments after the first hour if necessary, we’re reasonable people. If we’re just a few minutes away from a breakthrough or finishing up something important, we’ll often extend the session slightly at no extra charge. We’ll always check with you before adding any extra time, and there’s never any pressure to continue if you’d prefer to schedule a follow-up instead.

The goal isn’t to watch the clock – it’s to ensure you get the help you need in a way that works for you, at a pace that feels comfortable.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

Life happens, and we completely understand! While we ask for 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling, we’re human and know that sometimes things come up unexpectedly:

Can family members join the sessions?

Absolutely! We encourage family involvement and don’t charge extra for additional family members to join. This can be especially helpful for setup sessions or security checks where multiple family members might need to understand the systems in place. We can even coordinate with family members who live elsewhere via video call at no extra charge.

Can I share my tutoring package with others?

Our tutoring is always delivered one-to-one to ensure each person gets the focused, personalised attention they deserve. While group sessions might seem efficient, we’ve found that individual attention leads to better understanding and faster progress, as everyone learns technology differently and at their own pace.

That said, our session packages can absolutely be shared among people in the same local area! The time would be divided into individual sessions for each person. This is particularly popular for:

✦ Couples learning together
✦ Neighbours helping each other stay digitally connected
✦ Friends who want to learn together
✦ Housemates sharing tech interests
✦ Community groups coordinating support

For example, a 6-session package could be used for:
✦ Joint learning sessions where you learn together
✦ Individual sessions split between participants
✦ A mix of different services (perhaps one person needs device setup while another wants email training)

We’re happy to coordinate shared packages as long as participants are within reasonable walking distance to avoid travel complications. Many people find learning with others not only more economical but also more enjoyable!

For those living further apart, a separate package will be required to ensure everyone gets the most value from their sessions. However, we’re happy to offer a small discount when booking multiple packages for a local group – just ask!
